We've been in this business a long time and frequently hear the same questions. Below you'll find these questions and their answers.
|
1. How much will my job cost? 2. Why are your prices so low? 3. How big is each slab?
4. How many slabs do I need for my project? 5. Can I pick out the slab(s) for my project?
6. Do you have remnants available? 7. Do you have a showroom available? 8. I'm remodeling my kitchen. When should I place my order?
9. Do I need to seal my stone after installation? 10. If I have any problems after installation, is there anyone I can call?
Q: 1. How much will my job cost? A: There are many factors that go into pricing a job. The basic price is based on the square footage of the project. The type of material used, number of sinks needed, cutouts (sink and stove), edge profile and if the removal of old counters is required will all affect the final price. The easiest and most accurate way to get a price is for us to come out with samples, take measurements and go over the details with you. We will write you an estimate on the spot and explain it to you so there are no surprises later.
Q: 2. Why are your prices so low? A: We don't have the overhead that many large fabricators do, so we don't have to pass those costs on to you. Additionally, we don't mark up our material costs so you pay the lowest price possible for any material you choose. Lastly, our owners do the work which keep labor costs down and ensure you get the best quality along with our low prices.
Q: 3. How big is each slab? A: Each stone slab will vary in size. Quartz is the most consistent with different sizes available followed by granite at 60 square feet, plus or minus a little. Other stone type slabs will be smaller than granite slabs and can vary greatly in size.
Q: 4. How many slabs do I need for my project? A: There is no exact way to have the same answer to this question for all situations. Even though a granite slab will be 60 square feet, we won't be able to get 60 square feet of counter space out of it. Just how many square feet we can get is dependent on the shapes and sizes being fabricated. A circle or large radius will create more waste than a square or rectangle. There are a variety of factors that will determine how we lay out your counters on a slab including trying to use the material efficiently, getting a good color match on seams, etc.
Q: 5. Can I pick out the slab(s) for my project? A: Yes, we will be happy to meet you at any of our suppliers. Since the lower cost materials tend to be more consistent in color and veining this is less critical. With the more expensive materials this is recommended since each slab can vary greatly so it is important to hand select the exact slab that has the look you want. If you go on your own and find a slab you like, you can put it on hold under our name. The supplier will hold the slab for a couple of weeks without paying for it, and a couple of extra weeks once they've been purchased. After placing the material on hold, call us to let us know so we don't take it off hold.
Q: 6. Do you have remnants available? A: We do have many remnants. Typically, we only use remnants for bathroom vanities. We won't use remnants in kitchens (because of matching issues) without your prior consent.
Q: 7. Do you have a showroom available? A: Part of keeping our overhead low is not having a showroom. However, each of our suppliers have showrooms and we recommend going there to see the stones. We can meet you there to answer any questions you have and provide material pricing. Our suppliers won't give you pricing to protect fabricators that mark up their material costs, but we will bring the price list and help keep you in budget.
Q: 8. I'm remodeling my kitchen. When should I place my order? A: You don't need to place your order until around a week before your cabinets will be ready for new counters. We do recommend selecting your material as early as possible so you can make the rest of your design choices around the color of stone you choose. This is the approach many designers take to make the design process easier.
Q: 9. Do I need to seal my stone after installation? A: The last step in the installation process is resealing your stone. It's sealed before we buy it, but after the fabrication and installation process we seal it again to ensure maximum protection of your investment. You'll want to seal it every six months to a year depending on stone type and use.
Q: 10. If I have any problems after installation, is there anyone I can call? A: Yes, call us! We guarantee everything we do for a year, but if you call after a year we'll still come take a look at the problem and provide help in solving it. We know we will only succeed if we take good care of each of our customers.
